Helping Children Gain a Sense of History

The topic in this Primary 7 class was World War 2. The children were learning about what life was like in Britain during that time. They used the class mp3 players with built in microphones to interview older family members to find out what life was like for them when they were younger. This gave the children a sense of history and helped them gain a clearer insite into the class topic.

They uploaded the interview files to audacity so that they could convert them to mp3 format before sharing them on their pages on the class wiki. They linked to their wiki page from the class blog via their weemee avatars. They had great fun making these avatars at weeworld.com

Click on the avatars below to listen to the interviews with grans, grandads … and great grandads. The children devised their own questions.

The results are worth listening to!
